SAN JOSE – Authorities have ruled a man’s death last month in San Jose a homicide.

On Nov. 27, officers were called to the 1400 block of Almaden Expressway for a report of a possible dead body inside a residence, San Jose police Officer Steven Aponte said in a news release Friday. A man was found and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office on Thursday ruled the man’s death a homicide. Aponte said the cause and manner of death is pending the results of the agency’s investigation.

The man’s identity was not released.

No suspects have been arrested or identified, said Aponte. He added that the motive and circumstances surrounding the killing are under investigation.

The killing was the 40th homicide in the city this year, with 31 investigated by San Jose police and nine – the victims of the VTA rail-yard massacre – investigated by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
