A Sacramento man died and another person was wounded in a shooting Wednesday evening in Gilroy.

The vehicle the two people were riding in was sprayed with bullets sometime between 5:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. Wednesday near Monterey Street and Leavelsey Road, according to the Gilroy Police Department. The pair called for emergency help after they made it to the 8200 block of Murray Avenue, authorities said.

The identity of the man killed was not released pending confirmation and notification of his next of kin. Another person in the vehicle suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and was taken to a hospital, police said.
