SAN LEANDRO — A 23-year-old Oakland man was in jail Monday after his arrest in connection with a weekend injury shooting at a bar, authorities said.
In a statement Monday afternoon, police said officers responded to Coyote Bar, 2089 Doolittle Drive, around 10:20 p.m. Saturday for a shooting report. They learned that a fight ended when the man pulled a gun and shot another man at least once.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds and later released, police said.
The suspect had left the bar before officers arrived. Police said they identified the person based on witness accounts. A hostage negotiation team contacted the suspect and convinced him to surrender around 9 p.m. Authorities did not say why the hostage team was called or where the arrest took place.
“We are pleased to have made an arrest in this case, as quickly as we did, and in a safe fashion,” San Leandro police Lt. Matt Barajas said Monday.
