A parolee faces as much as 70 years in jail after a jury convicted him last week of murder in connection with an April 2020 fatal shooting in East Oakland, authorities said.

Danny Webb Jr. was found guilty of first-degree murder, as well as being a prohibited person in possession of a weapon, carrying a loaded weapon and shooting into an occupied vehicle causing great bodily injury or death.

According to an Alameda County District Attorney’s Office statement Wednesday, the jury verdict came on Friday. Jurors had heard evidence in the April 17, 2020 shooting where Webb and seven other men surrounded a vehicle in the 9700 block of Mountain Boulevard in Oakland before opening fire, hitting it with multiple rounds.

Inside the vehicle, four men who had driven up from Bakersfield earlier that day suffered injuries. One man inside managed to fire back, striking Webb in the chest, while another who suffered wounds managed to survive.

A third man, identified as Vallejo resident Justin Esco, 25, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Webb was previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter after a 2009 homicide in Vallejo led to a nine-year prison term preceded by two hung juries and a plea bargain, authorities said.

Webb faces sentencing February 16, 2022. His lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
