Is Marvel planning to reboot Daredevil or not? The question has plagued fans ever since the disappointing cancellation of Netflix’s adaptation, and now, a new rumor claims to finally provide confirmation that yes, Daredevil will enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+. The latest scoop comes courtesy of Twitter user @RPK_News1, a known scooper whose track record speaks for itself, who seemingly reveals a casting grid confirming that a Marvel Daredevil project is indeed in early development.
While next to no other information is available at this time, this is no doubt more than enough to have fans of The Man Without Fear excited, as they have been calling for a comeback for Daredevil for some time. The casting grid does not confirm whether the project is a movie or Disney+ series (though one would assume the latter), or whether the MCU outing would begin with a new cast or bring back Charlie Cox as many have hoped.
There have been so many rumors surrounding a proposed Daredevil reboot that it has become increasingly difficult to keep up, but one of the latest claims is that the likes of Daredevil, as well as The Punisher and Jessica Jones, will receive the “soft reboot” treatment using the same cast as their respective Netflix shows. While the report at the time further stated that it was unclear whether the character would receive their own outings or simply be introduced in the movies and television shows of other characters, this latest scoop may have just answered that particular question.
There have since been some more specific claims regarding Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, with reports claiming that Matt Murdock and his vigilante alter ego will feature in the upcoming Disney+ series Echo, and that his role will be much more than just a cameo appearance. With the Echo series having been confirmed during the recent Disney Plus Day, it could well be that Cox’s superhero is introduced in the spin-off before returning in his own show.
There are also continuing rumors that Cox will appear in a cameo as Matt Murdock in the upcoming MCU sequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home. There have been reports that the actor was spotted on set, with an apparent leak seemingly revealing an image of Matt Murdock sitting at a table with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. The image looks to be from a scene that was recently described in an interview by Tom Holland, during which he teased the inclusion of a mysterious fourth character. “It’s four people sitting at a table, having a conversation about what it’s like to be a superhero, and it was amazing,” Holland said. “The other day we watched the scene, my brother and I, and our jaws were on the floor.”
Charlie Cox of course continues to deny his involvement in any future Marvel project saying, “My answer is, ‘No comment.’ I don’t know what’s going to happen, I genuinely don’t know.” Here’s hoping he’s just damn good at keeping secrets. This comes to us courtesy of Twitter user RPK.
