HAYWARD — A three-year-old boy was found safe after being abducted Friday by a man who shot the child’s mother and another person, according to Sacramento police.
The child, Leo Norvell, was in good health and would be reunited with his family, including his mother, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said. The other shooting victim, a man, was also expected to recover from his injuries.
Police arrested a 30 -year-old Hayward man , who they said was found with Norvell and is suspected of abducting the child and shooting his mother and another victim.
Yago knew the victims, police said, and shot them while abducting Norvell in a residential Sacramento neighborhood on Friday afternoon. He then took the boy to the Bay Area.
Sacramento police had issued an Amber Alert on Friday but canceled it after the boy’s safe recovery in Hayward.
Neighbors told KCRA they saw the suspect rip Norvell from his mother’s arms seconds before hearing gunshots.
