A new sort-of-trailer for the Disney+ Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi has now been released, and while it does not contain any footage from the show, it does offer a behind-the-scenes look at the project, revealing some stunning concept art which teases the dramatic duel between Ewan McGregor’s Jedi Master and his former Padawan, Darth Vader. Though fans are sure to be somewhat disappointed at the lack of actual footage, this insight into Obi-Wan Kenobi is sure to have Star Wars fans very excited indeed. The one caveat is that you have to watch the sizzle reel on Disney+, which means you have to be a subscriber to see what the fuss is about.

The incredible artwork shown in the clip tease an epic battle between Obi-Wan and TAfkbyzIysp7ij|Darth Vader that looks akin to the never-ending duel between the pair during the finale of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy herself has teased the face-off between the old friends, describing the Obi-Wan versus Darth Vader moment as “the rematch of the century,” and judging by these images it looks she may have somehow still undersold it.

The images seemingly match-up with another recent leak, which described the scene as taking us to Mustafar, where “Darth Vader rises from his throne and hurriedly walks to his ship’s hanger to intercept his old master.” The report claims that the series’ storyline will find Obi-Wan Kenobi “dispatched to a planet on a rescue mission,” with the prisoner being important to Vader and thus leading them on a collision course, resulting in the duel teased in this concept art.

While Disney are trying to keep some information under wraps, it has since been revealed that Obi-Wan Kenobi will take place some ten years after the ending of 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, picking up with an older, no doubt much lonelier Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is now in exile on Tatooine and watching over Luke Skywalker. The limited series will pick up with the Star Wars hero during a much darker time than audiences are perhaps used to, with Kathleen Kennedy revealing that, “Just being a Jedi, it’s not safe, there’s Jedi hunters out there.”

Alongside Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan, Star Wars prequel star Hayden Christensen will also return to reprise the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, with the actors no doubt as excited to wield lightsabers again as the fans are to see them clash.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is being written by Joby Harold and will be directed by The Mandalorian‘s Deborah Chow. As well as bringing back some familiar faces, the series will also introduce a few new ones, with both F9 star Sung Kang and Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani set to join the Star Wars franchise. Kang recently revealed that he will have the honor of wielding a lightsaber in the series saying, “I kept pinching myself to go, ‘How did I end up here?’ and, my character has a lightsaber, to go, ‘What? This is.. It’s not a toy. It’s actually the real thing, right?’ So pretty cool.” Nanjiani meanwhile has teased his character, describing them as “a new version of a type of Star Wars character we’ve seen before.”
