BELMONT – Four people have been arrested in connection with the 2019 killing of a 17-year-old Redwood City boy, police said.

Officers with the Belmont Police Department found the body of Carlmont High School student Mohammad Othman while responding to a report of a possible kidnapping Jan. 7, 2019 in the parking lot of Central Elementary School.

Police said an initial investigation revealed Othman likely knew the suspects in the case, but they did not reveal how they came to that conclusion.

A “complex investigation” involving the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office and other Bay Area agencies ensued and ultimately led to the identification of four suspects, police said.

On Wednesday, police announced the arrests of Ruben GonzalezMagallanes, 23, of Indianapolis, and Antonio Valencia, 21, of Concord. Two suspects who were juveniles at the time of the alleged crime were also arrested. They were identified only as a 19-year-old South San Francisco resident and a 17-year-old Mountain View resident.

“Although arrests have been made, this case is still an ongoing and active investigation,” police said in a statement.
