SAN JOSE – Four people were injured in two separate house fires Thursday in San Jose, authorities said.
The first fire was reported at about 3:40 p.m. in the garage of a home on the 4600 block of Lage Drive.
An adult male resident initially refused to leave the residence, but he eventually complied without police needing to intervene, said San Jose Fire Department spokesperson Erica Ray. He was taken to an area hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and burns.
The second fire was reported at about 5 p.m. on the 2600 block of Alderwood Drive.
Ray said three women were taken to an area hospital, one with serious injuries and two with minor injuries.
Both fires were knocked down by 5:45 p.m. The cause of each was under investigation.
