Fremont fire officials on Sunday were still investigating the cause of a house fire that killed one person and injured three others Saturday night in the city’s northern Brookdale neighborhood.

The deadly fire erupted shortly after 7 p.m. on the 4100 block of Bacinada Court, according to the Fremont Fire Department. Flames were shooting from the garage of the one-story house when firefighters arrived, and two vehicles inside it were fully engulfed in flames.

An adult who was pulled from the house died at the scene, the fire department said. On Sunday, the Alameda County Coroner’s Office said it was not releasing the individual’s name because the next of kin have not been notified yet.

Three other people escaped the house, and after trying to fight the flames with towels and a garden hose, were taken to nearby hospitals suffering with burns and smoke inhalation, the fire department said.

Two of the individuals were sent to Valley Medical Center in San Jose and another was sent to Washington Hospital in Fremont, according to a Fremont fire spokesperson. Their conditions were not released Sunday.
