Storm haunts fundraiser

Los Gatos community members banded together to make Leigh High School’s Halloween fundraiser event a bit less scary. The Oct. 24 storm that caused widespread outages and damage in the South Bay took its toll on the high school’s annual haunted house fundraiser. The funds raised through the haunted house benefit the high school’s theater program, and according to staff, the event is one of the biggest money-makers for the program.

After the storm, community members showed up to help clean up the site and rebuild the structure. In just three days, the entire haunted house was completely rebuilt. This allowed the attraction to reopen just in time for Halloween weekend.

Planners wanted

The Town of Los Gatos is looking for adult volunteers to serve on the General Plan Committee, which helps advise the town council and the planning commission on matters related to long-term development and goals for the town. The draft 2040 General Plan is currently being reviewed. Members of the nine-person committee serve four-year terms, meeting twice a week to discuss new projects. The event will begin at 2 p.m. at Fisher Middle School. Participants will walk from the middle school to the Los Gatos Civic Center.
