OAKLAND — A 17-year-old girl was shot and a woman pistol-whipped Friday afternoon outside a West Oakland neighborhood store, authorities said.
The violence happened about 2:46 p.m. at a convenience store in the 2500 block of Market Street.
According to preliminary information provided by investigators, the woman and girl were outside the store with a man when an argument ensued shortly before the attack. After the man fled, the girl and woman sought refuge inside the store.
The girl was reported to be in stable condition at a hospital with a wound to her leg. Firefighters and paramedics treated the woman at the scene for her injuries.
The man was described as African-American in his 30s, about 5 feet 9 and weighing more than 200 pounds with a dark complexion and no facial hair. He was last seen driving a green sedan westbound on 26th Street.
