OAKLAND — A woman was killed and five other people injured early Sunday in a three-vehicle collision in the Grand Lake district, authorities said.
The name of the 34-year-old woman killed, a non-Oakland resident, has not yet been released.
The fatality happened about 2:02 a.m. Sunday in the 3300 block of Grand Avenue.
Police said the 34-year-old woman was driving a 2018 Toyota Prius that entered the 3300 block of Grand Avenue from the east side of the roadway and was attempting to go southbound on Grand.
The Toyota was struck by a 2020 Audi Q5 that was traveling north on Grand Avenue and the Toyota then collided with a 2015 Mazda CX53 that was going south on Grand, police said.
The 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 33-year-old woman who does not live in Oakland was a passenger in the front seat of the Toyota, and was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.
A 30-year-old man, a non-Oakland resident who was also a passenger in the Toyota, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Mazda, a 33-year-old Oakland woman, and a passenger in the vehicle, a 33-year-old woman who is a non-Oakland resident, were both taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver of the Mazda, a 25-year-old man who does not live in Oakland, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police traffic investigators said it appears alcohol was a factor in what happened, but did not provide additional details.
