‘SHIFTwork’ at NUMU

New Museum Los Gatos is partnering with the San Jose Woman’s Club for an event called “SHIFTwork.” The event, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 23, 1-2:30 p.m., will mark the museum’s first in-person program since pandemic restrictions began.

“SHIFTwork” aims to highlight the often invisible work done by women by encouraging participants to examine their own work habits. The program will be led by artist Sawyer Rose in conjunction with her exhibition “Carrying Stones” at NUMU, located at 106 E. Main St.

Admission to the event is free for museum members and $10 for non-members. Attendees will be expected to follow COVID-19 safety protocols, including wearing masks indoors and proof of vaccination.

New on the beat

The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department hired four new officers this month. The department announced on Oct. 5 that officers Theilen, Frizzell and DeOcampo have completed their field training and have officially joined the force. Officer Scott Floerchinger was sworn in Oct. 11.

Pretzel logic

Looking to bring Oktoberfest home? On Monday, Oct. 25, 5-6 p.m., the Los Gatos Public Library is hosting an online class to teach participants how to make their own German-style pretzels. Participants will pick up ingredients from the library ahead of the event and tune in to learn how to turn them into fresh, twisty treats. To sign up, visit https://tinyurl.com/LGLibraryPretzels.
