BAY POINT — The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office said it was asking for the public’s help in solving a weekend fatal shooting of a teenager under investigation by deputies as a homicide.

Around 5:36 p.m.., deputies responded to the 3300 block of Willow Pass Road for a report of a shooting, according to a sheriff’s department press release Sunday afternoon.

When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound lying on the ground outside a store. Despite life-saving measures from firefighters and paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s department identified him Sunday as 18-year-old Manuel Pineda.

A second person hurt in the shooting was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
