Players catch ‘Big Fish’’

The Sunnyvale Community Players are reeling in “Big Fish” for their next production. The musical, based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the film directed by Tim Burton, is set to run Oct. 23-Nov. 7 at the Sunnyvale Theatre, 550 E. Remington Drive. With music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by John August, the show follows Will Bloom as he tries to find out the truth behind his father’s fish stories.

BASIS for new school

BASIS Independent Schools is set to open a new lower-school campus in fall 2022 at 1500 Partridge Ave. in Sunnyvale. The private school will serve students in grades TK-5. The campus is designed to complement the upper grades at the original Silicon Valley location on Parkmoor Avenue.

Brooklyn Titus, who was on the founding faculty of BASIS Independent Silicon Valley Upper location,  has been named Head of School for the new lower school.

The new school will include more than 20 classrooms, with designated science rooms, an engineering room and a multipurpose room. Outdoors, two full courts for basketball and volleyball are planned, as well as expansive fields for outdoor activities and PE.

Safety measures include an arrival and departure loop, plus abundant parking, coded gates at each entry point and a secure perimeter fence.
