OAKLAND — Two men were shot less than an hour apart Friday morning, one at a West Oakland homeless camp, authorities said.
Their conditions were not immediately available.
One of the men was shot about 9 a.m. Friday at an encampment in the 2200 block of Wood Street near West Grand Avenue underneath Interstate 880.
The man was found bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound to the lower leg, authorities said. It was not immediately known if the man lives at the encampment or was visiting someone there.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made.
There have been other shootings at the encampment over the years, including one where a man was killed in February 2019.
The other shooting was reported about 9:30 a.m. Friday in the 8100 block of MacArthur Boulevard.
Police responding to a ShotSpotter alert and calls from residents found numerous shell casings in the street but no victim.
It turned out the man shot had gotten his own transportation to a hospital where he was being treated for at least one wound, police said.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooters in both cases. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
