OAKLAND — A woman and a man were wounded Tuesday afternoon in a drive-by shooting as they were driving in East Oakland, authorities said.

Both victims were in stable condition at a hospital. Both are 21 and the woman is from Richmond and the man from Oakland, authorities said. Police have not said what their relationship is.

The shooting was reported about 3:18 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman, who was driving the car the two were in, told police they were driving in the 5000 block of MacArthur Boulevard  near Mills College when another vehicle pulled up alongside them and someone inside began shooting at them.

They were both wounded by gunfire and the woman was able to drive to the 5500 block of MacArthur where she crashed into a parked vehicle.  She and the man got a ride to a hospital from another person before police arrived on the scene. The car they were in had several bullet holes, authorities said.

Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.
