Burlingame volleyball standout Emma Madden has been named the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Sept. 13-19 after receiving 47.6% of the vote.
Menlo School volleyball player Zoe Gregory (36.3%) was second and St. Mary’s-Berkeley volleyball player Karis Van Noord (15.7%) was third.

Madden, a 5-foot-9 senior, helped Burlingame win five of six matches for the week, with 10 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Woodside and 11 more in a 3-0 sweep of Aragon. She began this week with 108 kills on the season, averaging 3.7 per set.
