The Girl Scouts of Saratoga Juniors thought visitors to Village shops and restaurants might want something to read, so they built a Little Free Library on Big Basin Way near Fourth Street. Their project earned them the Bronze Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can achieve.
The Girl Scouts of Saratoga Juniors thought visitors to Village shops and restaurants might want something to read, so they built a Little Free Library on Big Basin Way near Fourth Street. Their project earned them the Bronze Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can achieve.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the Little Free Library is set for Sept. 25 at 11am. A book raffle will be held, and refreshments will be served later in front of the Chamber of Commerce.
Zoom cooking benefit
Chef Daniel Nally of The Basin restaurant will be teaching a Zoom cooking class on Monday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m. with Cancer CAREpoint Development Manager Ariane Chapple to benefit the nonprofit’s programs and services.
The menu includes butternut squash apple soup, garlic mushrooms and burrata crostini with parmesan crisp and, if time permits, creamy citrus vinaigrette. Participants will receive a shopping list in advance of the event.
To register, send a check for $50 made out to Cancer CAREpoint by Oct. 20, noting that it’s for the cooking class, to Chapple at Cancer CAREpoint, 2505 Samaritan Drive, Suite 402, San Jose, CA 95124.
COVID town hall
Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian, whose district includes Saratoga, has scheduled a telephone town hall for Sept. 26 devoted to answering residents’ questions about COVID-19 with Greta Hansen, chief assistant county counsel for Santa Clara County, and Dr. George Rutherford, director of the Divisions of Infectious Disease and Global Epidemiology at the University of California, San Francisco.
