A San Jose woman was killed Saturday night when she drove her car into a Fresno County vineyard and hit a concrete pipe.
Rosemary Montiel, 40, was eastbound on Belmont Avenue near the town of Kerman, between Mendota and Fresno, shortly after 10 p.m.
Near Del Norte Avenue, her Toyota Prius veered off the two-lane rural road and into a vineyard, the California Highway Patrol said. The car’s left side hit an irrigation standpipe.
Montiel was declared dead at the site of the accident. She was the car’s only occupant.
The CHP said alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been a factor.
