AVON LAKE, Ohio — Two children and two adults were discovered dead of fatal gunshot wounds at an Ohio home. Police are investigating the crime scene as a murder-suicide, officials announced.
The Avon Lake Police Department dispatched officers to a residence shortly after 1:15 p.m. Tuesday regarding a welfare check. Upon arrival police encountered “a suspicious condition inside” the home, at which point they called detectives to the scene.
Police personnel eventually cleared the home and discovered four people dead from gunshot wounds, including two kids, police said.
The Loraine County Coroner was made aware of the circumstances, which was described as a “murder-suicide,” the department said in a press release.
Law enforcement authorities have not yet identified the victims or released the ages of the deceased. Furthermore, they did not say if all four victims were related or what prompted the welfare check, Fox News reported.
Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating.
Avon Lake is located approximately 17 miles west of Cleveland.
