Up for auction on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS tribute that’s been customized with aluminum wheels on low-profile Sumitomo tires, alarm system, newer stereo and full gauges.
“The Chevelle and its fellow General Motors A-body counterparts received a second-generation design rework beginning in 1968 featuring a rounded beltline and tapered front fenders,” the auction house notes in the convertible’s listing. “The following year, minor changes were rolled out with revised front styling, a single chrome bar connecting quad headlights on the grille, and a slotted bumper with inset parking lights.”
This 1969 example was repainted in red with black lower rocker panels and a replacement black canvas power-operated soft top. Brightwork can be found in the forms of front and rear bumpers, grille, moldings, driver side view mirror, 350 badging, Malibu script on the rear quarters and dual polished exhaust tips exiting the rear.
The interior features reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats that are color-matched to the center console, door panels, dash and carpeting. It’s also equipped with a tilt steering wheel and an AM/FM radio.
Power comes from a small-block 350cid V8 outfitted with Edelbrock valve covers and air cleaner and is linked to a 3-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission with a console-mounted shift lever.
The odometer reads 5,000 miles, although true chassis mile is unknown.
This Chevelle Malibu SS tribute’s auction ends September 10 at 12:40 p.m. PDT.
